As a Mom of three and Yaya to five, this is what I try to instill to those I love.  There isn't a day that goes by that I don't stress the importance of looking out for a sibling, other family member or friend.  We were made for serving others!  This is sometimes hard for my littles to understand- because it is so easy to be selfish and to get caught up in the idea of only looking out for oneself.  What a sad thing to be so sefl centered that you don't see the needs of others.  

My first career was a school teacher- a job of service to children and their families.  I am a mother and wife who cares for my husband and children.  I am also my granmother's and mother's care giver.  My whole life has been one of taking care of others.  I married a man who takes good care of others- if something needs doing you do it.  It's just what you do!  No questions.  

Today I was in my husband's truck.  I was turning around and got stuck in a ditch.  Don't worry, it' wasn't really in the ditch.  That left rear tire was in just the right spot that held me back from moving forward. It was bad to me at the time.   LOL

I can drive a truck all day every day- but I don't know one thing about pulling trailers, 4 WD or anything.  That doesn't bother me at all I don't need to know those things.  Today, when I got stuck- I was shaking like a leaf, I was scared because I was across the road.  Not to mention, I was in my husband's truck and I didn't want to be responsible for messing it up.  What to do, what to do?

Along came a car!  It came to a stop and out stepped a woman.  She gave me words of encouragement  and stayed there.  

Three other cars passed by and didn't stop!  They didn't even slow down and ask if we needed anything.  

She made suggestions and I followed what she told me to do.

 The truck came out of the ditch !  The woman made sure that I was on the move and all was well.  

I thought about what had happened while I drove home.  I was fine, the truck was fine.  I am thiankful for the one person who stopped.  But I can't help but think about those who did NOT stop.  Do we live in a world where we don't care enough to stop and make sure people are ok?  Are we so busy or scared or whateveer that we don't show up for those in need?

So today I was reminded that I'm here for others.  I want and need to help them.  Maybe I can't give you money, or I can't take you somewhere.  Maybe I can't give you what you need but I belive that I can at least show up and let you know that I do care.  Even if it's nothing.  Tomorow and each day after.....I will do better than the day before.  I will let others know that they can count on me.  

Maybe you needed a reminder that there ARE people out there who care and will show up.  Maybe you needed a litlte push to be there for someone in need, check on a loved one, just say hello or smile a the person who looks like they need it. Let's all do better!
